At Language & Literacy Academy for Learning, our free therapy services are the best in the region for students with special needs. Our therapy service providers are able to support our students’ health conditions, environmental, and personal factors more effectively because we specialize in them.
Our in-house therapists are dedicated to supporting our students and helping them to overcome the functional limitations or health conditions that might prevent them from reaching their highest levels of academic success.
As we prepare for the new school year, we want to introduce you to some members of our therapy team. In today’s Therapist Spotlight, meet Occupational Therapy Assistant, Cierra Jones!
Tell us a bit about your background.
I have been an Occupational Therapy Assistant for 6 years. I have worked in both pediatric and geriatric facilities.
What inspired you to become an occupational therapist?
I first discovered occupational therapy when my grandmother was admitted to a skilled nursing facility for rehab. I watched as she carried out her therapy tasks each day and it really inspired me to find out more about the field. I always knew that I wanted a position in healthcare that would allow me to directly help people and make a difference in their everyday lives, occupational therapy is just that.
Who is your personal hero?
My personal hero is my aunt, because she has a very giving heart. She taught me how to be compassionate and help people, no matter what.
What do you like to do for fun?
For fun, I really enjoy being out on the water. I enjoy fishing, scalloping, and swimming with manatees along side my husband and two daughters.
Be sure to check out our other Therapist Spotlights, and join us at our upcoming Therapist Meet & Greet to meet Harmony and the rest of our therapy team in person!
